About

I am a mathematician who likes to do a little anonymous blogging when the mood strikes.  This blog is where I put my longer essays, usually exploring topics relating to philosophy, rationalism, social issues, and analysis of personal and culture-wide disagreements.  I aim to tie together situations and experiences which superficially look quite different but are driven by similar misunderstandings.  I want to understand both the parallels and the distinctions between a hawk and a handsaw.

I am but mad north-north west…

— from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2

    Hi!

I spotted you over on SSC, where you mentioned that you live in Italy. I too live in Italy, in Rome. Would be good to connect if you are anywhere nearby.

    1. Thanks for stopping by to say hi! It’s good to hear from another SSC reader in Italy, as there doesn’t seem to be much SSC/rationalism activity in this country. Unfortunately I live in northern Italy at quite a distance from Rome and within a year almost certainly won’t even be living in Italy anymore, so it would probably be hard for us to meet.
